Pool Opening in New Jersey

Pool opening is the spring start-up that takes a winterized pool back to swimmable condition: the cover is removed and cleaned, plugs and winter fittings come out, equipment is reassembled and started, the water level is restored, and the chemistry is corrected until the water is clear and balanced.

Opening day influences the entire swimming season. A rushed start—moving the cover aside, switching on the pump and adding shock without testing—can leave the water cloudy for weeks. Lester Pools follows the correct sequence, checks the equipment while it runs and balances the water methodically so the pool is ready on a realistic schedule.

What a Lester Pools opening includes

We pump standing water off the cover, remove it, clean it and fold it for storage. Winter plugs and skimmer devices come out; return fittings, ladders, handrails and the diving board are reinstalled as appropriate. The filter, pump and heater are reassembled, primed and started, then observed for leaks or strain. We restore the operating water level, test pH, alkalinity, calcium and sanitizer, treat winter water when needed, begin the filtration cycle and check salt-system cells and readings before handoff.

What we find at opening

Spring start-up is when winter damage becomes visible: a cracked skimmer, a leaking pump seal, a heater that will not fire, a liner that has slipped from its track or a wall component that has shifted. Finding those problems in April is better than discovering them during peak summer use, and we explain what we observe before doing work beyond the agreed opening service.

If a repair is required, it is assessed and quoted separately. Nothing additional is performed simply because our technicians are already at the pool, so you retain control over the scope and cost.

When to open your pool

The best time to open is often earlier than most people expect. Once daytime temperatures rise, stagnant water beneath a cover can grow algae quickly. An early, orderly opening usually costs less than correcting a heavily green pool later. We also inspect the visible condition of the vinyl surface and can discuss liner replacement when deterioration is discovered. After the water is clear, customers can continue on a scheduled pool maintenance rotation through the swimming season.
